SUMMARY:The Disabled Queer Extravaganza
DESCRIPTION:ParaPride returned to Hoxton for a special celebration honouring and empowering the disabled LGBTQ+ community. \n\n\n\nWe were delighted to welcome guests to Hoxton Hall for ParaPride’s annual flagship event for a very special celebration. ParaPride continued to mark history with yet another incredible event honouring and celebrating our powerful disabled community\, with a spectacular line-up of talented acts that entertained guests throughout the day. \n\n\n\nFrom comedy sensations and acrobatic performances to drag royalties\, teasing burlesque dancers and more\, The Disabled Queer Extravaganza proudly showcased disability talent. All our performers identified with and reflected our community. \n\n\n\nWe hosted a live and interactive ‘Dis-section’ panel with special guest speakers\, focusing the discussion on ‘Reducing Barriers to Protesting Safely for Disabled Peoples Rights’\, with a particular focus on marginalised and intersectional communities. \n\n\n\nA spacious community networking area was available for everyone to socialise\, connect\, and engage with local partner organisations\, share information and have fun. Two bars were available with drinks and snacks for purchase. \n\n\n\nParaPride is committed to creating inclusive\, accessible and enjoyable events in safe environments for the disabled LGBTQ+ community\, as well as for our friends and supporters. \n\n\n\nBSL interpreters were present throughout the event\, with live closed captions available during the panel. The ground level was accessible with step-free access. Accessible toilets were available on all floors\, with lift access to all levels. A quiet space (in the Palmer Room) was available on the second floor. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent Schedule \n\n\n\n\nDoors Open – 2pm\n\n\n\nStart / Intro – 3pm\n\n\n\nPanel Discussion – 3.20pm\n\n\n\nInterval – 4.20pm\n\n\n\nPerformances Act One – 4.40pm\n\n\n\nInterval – 5.40pm\n\n\n\nPerformances Act Two – 6pm\n\n\n\nSocialising – 7pm\n\n\n\nFinish – 8pm\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis Disabled Queer Extravaganza took place in the wonderfully diverse Hoxton\, in the London borough of Hackney.
