Intersectionality Awareness Week 2027

As an intersectional charity focused on supporting, building awareness of, and improving inclusion and access for the disabled LGBTQIA+ community, we launched Intersectionality Awareness Week in May 2025 alongside a range of intersectional partners and charities. Together, they worked to raise the profile of intersectional communities, their challenges, and their unique and valuable diversity.

Intersectionality Awareness Week 2026 represented, we hope, the beginning of a global cultural shift: moving away from diversity and inclusion frameworks that focus on a single aspect of a person’s experience, toward a more holistic, compassionate, and open understanding of people who bring a wide diversity of experience and ability. Increasingly, there is recognition from businesses, governments, educators, and community leaders that frameworks must be put in place to support people in bringing their full selves into our workplaces, communities, social spaces, and cultures.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in spreading the message, supporting the cause, and sharing their intersectional experience in their own workplace, community, and social space.

We’re excited to confirm that Intersectionality Awareness Week will be returning in 2027 – though nothing is confirmed just yet. Check back closer to the time for updates, or keep an eye on the IAW website for announcements.
