Intersectionality Awareness Week 2026
May 11 – May 17

As an intersectional charity focused on supporting, building awareness of, and improving inclusion and access for the disabled LGBTQIA+ community, we launched Intersectionality Awareness Week in May 2025 alongside a range of intersectional partners and charities. Together, they worked to raise the profile of intersectional communities, their challenges, and their unique and valuable diversity.
This year, we hosted four events aimed at spreading awareness, inclusion, education and connection.
May 11th: The Experiences of the Trans Disabled Community: A free virtual event discussing how society can address the barriers that often leave trans disabled people excluded.
May 13th: Still Here, Still Proud: A virtual event diving into realities of older LGBTQ+ people navigating through intersectionality, visibility and belonging.
May 15th: Living Our Best Intersectional Lives: A virtual panel discussing how the overlapping systems of inequality shape access to opportunity and belonging for disabled, queer POC and LGBTQ+ immigrants across different socioeconomic backgrounds.
May 16th: IAW Networking Reception In-Person Event
Most of our Intersectionality Awareness Week events were online and could be enjoyed from the comfort of one’s own home. Our in-person event took place in the Rainbow Room at the Metropolital University Holloway Campus, London.
A special thanks to all our incredible speakers and everyone who contributed to making Intersectionality Awareness Week such a success.
